Need a lawyer?
There are many organizations in New York that help LGTBQIA+ people. Some nonprofit organizations offer free legal services for low-income NYers. Nonprofit legal service providers have fairly rigid income-threshold requirements for who they can take on as clients; this relates to their nonprofit status/their organization’s funding eligibility. If you do not qualify as “low income”, you will need to hire a lawyer.
